Collection: 1957 BB Singles

For 1957, Topps made some significant changes from previous years.  Instead of artists drawings from photos, Topps used real color photographs on their cards.  The results were magnificent, with each card representing the player's true likeness.  The design of the front is fairly simple, with player name, team, and position included on the bottom.  Topps reduced the size of the card (now the standard size of cards) but increased the set size to 407.  Unlike most sets, the "mid series" is rarer than the "high numbers".  Another interesting fact is this is the first year which contained each players complete statistics.

Series

Series 1: 1-88

Series 2: 89-176

Series 3: 177-264

Series 4: 265-352

Series 5: 353-407

Notes

  • Cards from series 4 (#265-352) are rarer and more valuable than the other series (including commons)

  • There are 4 unnumbered checklists in the set.  Each can be valuable, especially in high grade and without any check marks
